Cocoa Beach: a surf town next to a launch pad

The Space Coast — rockets visible from the sand, the east coast's best surf and an aerospace job market.

Who this is for

For buyers who want surf, a short commute to aerospace work and Orlando within an hour

Cocoa Beach is a narrow strip between the Atlantic and the Banana River, an hour east of Orlando. Kennedy Space Center is just up the road, and launches are frequent enough that people watch them from their own balconies. This is also the surfing capital of the east coast — Kelly Slater grew up here. What changed the housing market recently is not tourism but employment: SpaceX, Blue Origin and Blue Origin's suppliers have brought engineers to a coast that used to empty out after each programme ended.
