Daytona BeachWho this is for
The sand at Daytona is packed hard enough to carry a car, which is why racers came here a century ago and why NASCAR was founded in a hotel bar on this beach. You can still drive onto marked stretches for a daily fee. Twice a year the Speedway and Bike Week fill every room in town, and the rest of the time it is an ordinary working city with a university, a long boardwalk and oceanfront condominiums that cost a fraction of what the same view costs four hours south.
